Nature is an indispensable source of life for humankind and it is his greatest fear. Since its existence, human who wants to rule over the nature, declares his sovereignty by establishing a synthetic relationship with nature . Instead of being a part of nature, he forms his own living space by shaping it for his own purposes. But modern human beings, suffocated by this synthetic life, aspires to return to nature. The simplest example of human’s inconsistent relationship with nature is thunder, lightning strike, and subsequent rain. The rain, a reminder of nature’s power in big cities made up of masses of concrete, was a great inspiration to humankind.
Artists in the ‘Before the Rain’ exhibition examine how human beings position themselves with the natural materials they use (marble, bronze, wood…), as well as images they create.
