At a time when access to information is ever so fast and the internet, especially social networking, becomes an audio visual reservoir, we are wandering between “black square” posts, Dalai Lama quotes, terrorism news, meditation videos and crying face and thankful hands emojis. The overloaded information that surrounds us keeps us constantly up to date about the catastrophes in the world while giving us new clues about ways to achieve happiness.
When a person experiences an end point, he often stays on the other end to protect himself. “Are we happy?” is about the desperate struggle to look at the full side of the glass that is continuously leaking. It brings together works by Sevgi Aka, Ahu Akgün, Volkan Aslan, Ekin Kano, Gizem Karakaş, Küdem Katerina and Murat Yıldız which consist of scribbles, laughters, black balloons, colourful mood states, straight faces, clouds that are bringing rainbow and rain together and “I am happy” statements written over and over again.
